Lovely week in Menorca

We had a wonderful week at Torre Vila in mid June 2023. The house was clean, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. We particularly liked the barbecue room with bifold doors creating flow between inside and outside, and a great barbecue. The pool was large, clean, and well maintained, and we swam many times each day (plenty warm enough). The gardens and grounds were remarkably big for a holiday home, and we enjoyed having no near neighbours, not being overlooked, and the feeling of peace and quiet from being in a rural location yet close to the coast, amenities and Ciutadella. There are many great places to eat out, particularly if you like seafood. Maia loved picking oranges from the trees to squeeze and make fresh OJ for breakfast, and exploring the garden looking for the tortoises. We enjoyed watching the resident owl flying between the trees each night as we relaxed outside looking over the garden. Ramon the owner was kind and helpful, with lots of useful advice and information. We would highly recommend a stay at Torre Vila. If we return to Menorca we would certainly consider another stay.

Our happy place - wonderful family group holiday

First of all let me say that Ramon is a fantastic host and before, during and after our stay his communication has been prompt, polite and attentive. No question or query is too small, and he will ensure that you have a smooth and enjoyable stay at his villa. Now the Villa - I know when I found this villa through my search that I was already wow'd by the pictures of both the inside and out and I can certainly say that you will find the real thing just as breath taking! The grounds of the villa are extensive, secluded, peaceful and the feeling of being immersed in nature really does take over. Our children loved exploring the grounds, picking oranges and lemons in the groves, playing football on the lawn, spotting tortoises in the grass and birds of prey flying overhead and especially the daily visit to see the horses in the neighbouring field at the back of the garden :) And of course the large terrace and pool provide a perfect vantage point to enjoy the landscape while soaking up the sun or enjoy a cooling swim in the daytime, and to have dinner in the evening. Inside, the living areas are spacious and open plan and it's brilliant that all those rooms open out to the terrace as well – great for keeping an eye on young children. The new floor tiling is beautiful and gives the villa a contemporary look within its classic architecture. The large dining room area is a fantastic space for sharing an evening meal together and we did cook on the bbq a couple of times too which was great fun. As we were a mixed family group, the bedroom arrangements worked really well for us. Myself and my husband and our children used the upstairs master room and 2nd bedroom with connected ‘jack and jill’ style bathroom. This meant the children could access our room very easily and made them more reassured of the environment – but also importantly we didn’t need to worry about them disturbing everyone else when they woke up early! The other 2 bedrooms are positioned downstairs via a staircase off the terrace – essentially positioned underneath the master bedroom area. These rooms are therefore self-contained each with the en-suite shower room, and worked perfectly for my mother and my husbands mother and partner. All the bedrooms have new air-conditioning units which work superbly; however we did not need to use very often as the evenings were still cool enough in early June when we stayed. Location - We frequently felt torn leaving the villa as the setting is so tranquil and you have everything you need right there; but we did want to explore the island a little as well! We had 2 hire cars between our family group, and I would say it is a must to have your own transport for this location. The location of the villa is fantastic for accessing Ciutadella within 10 mins, and we enjoyed the beaches and restaurants at Cala Blanca and Cala Santandria which are less than a 5 min drive away. Son Saura which is approx. 15mins drive is beautiful and a must see – highly recommend! It is a wild beach so no services – you will need to take beach things and food/drinks with you, and also plan your timing as it is very popular and not huge amount of parking. As it is close by we often went down late afternoon for a couple of hours when earlier beachgoers were starting to leave. In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay at Ramon’s villa – it is most certainly our ‘happy place’ and we very much hope to return next year.
